As a Finance Business Partner working in the commercial team you will report to the Head of Customer Finance. You will support and challenge the business, create value by improving the quality of decisions and ensure that a chosen business strategy delivers the highest financial benefit at an acceptable level of risk.

Key Accountabilities

  • Provide financial leadership, relevant forward looking insight and challenge in determining and delivering the strategic business direction (e.g. pricing, supporting and challenging the Sales teams, building business cases/ROIs)
  • Act as a catalyst in driving forward initiatives critical to delivering the strategy
  • Liaise with Enterprise and NNS FBP teams to provide input into commercial assumptions for actual results, budgeting and on-going forecasting
  • Bring commercials to life for customers and internal stakeholders while understanding the activities that create most value for these stakeholders
  • Build trust and lasting relationships with Sales teams to maximise chances of success
  • Close working with Legal team to reasonably optimise KCOM commercial and legal position frequently taking a leading role in customer contract commercial negotiations to minimise risk
  • Liaison with Procurement team to optimise supply cost management and with Bid Management to ensure rigorous governance controls are adhered to
  • Review macro-economic trends and market and competitor approaches to refine KCOM commercial offerings (e.g. external market analysis/benchmarking/competitor analysis/predictive modelling)
  • Support commercial agreements on sales commission schemes
  • Develops and uses innovative commercial solutions to maximise financial return & bid win ratios working mostly on High governance (high complexity/of high strategic importance) and Medium governance opportunities, often leading the commercial contract negotiations to ensure a successful outcome
  • Review and challenge management reports provided by the GFS and support the GFS to continually improve
  • Support working capital optimisation
  • Drive the development & implementation of priority projects, identify continual improvement opportunities
  • Naturally inquisitive with a desire to understand a broad range of commercial issues
  • Works independently with integrity and professionalism (e.g. ensuring order intake is accurate)
  • Contribute quality insight, share knowledge and constructively challenge styles of working
  • Ability to implement process-led change

Experience Required

  • Qualified Accountant preferred or currently studying towards an Accountancy qualification
  • Experience in commercial finance environment including the leading of complex customer bids, commercial negotiations and dealing with complex B2B commercial contracts an advantage
  • Evidence of strong commercial experience and awareness
  • Experience of working in a FTSE technology/telecoms/IT company dealing with a matrix organisation an advantage
  • Understanding the basics of commercial contract law an advantage
  • Experience of industry regulatory issues and pricing an advantage
  • Experience of strong stakeholder management and strong verbal and written communication skills to support interactions with finance professionals, the wider company and external parties
  • Experience of negotiating and influencing

Location

This role will be based at either our Hull Carr Lane office or our Wakefield Brandy Carr Road office.
